Ecofan: Why Doing the Right Thing is Important to Us

From the beginning, when Caframo opened its doors along the shores of Colpoys Bay, we have been invested in creating quality Canadian products built by hand, carefully inspected and tested, and shipped with care to every customer.

Since then, we have launched several products, each designed with a purpose- to genuinely help our customers.

Take Ecofan, for example. In 1994, the very first Ecofan was released to the public. Designed to sit atop a wood stove and circulate heat throughout a room, Ecofan allows each fire built during the winter season to go the extra mile. Performance, optimal airflow, finger-safe blades, and quality modules and motors are all hand-tested, inspected, and crafted to create an Ecofan that remains with you throughout the years.

Even in our fuel-saving claims, we want to ensure that the information we share is accurate and trusted. 

Our testing facility was set up as a home to mimic a space that uses a wood stove for heat. Every model of Ecofan was placed on the wood stove, and heat circulation was measured to ensure the most CFMs were achieved. Since then, we partnered with the University of Waterloo to verify our fuel-saving claims. 

As a small Canadian company located in a town of just 2,000 people, each employee has seen Caframo evolve. From supplying products throughout Canada to the United States to being present in international markets, our products have travelled the world. Still, the roots have remained the same- hand-built, hand-inspected, hand packed and shipped with care. 

During our growth, we have maintained a foundation of “doing the right thing,” whether assisting our customers who have contacted our Customer Service Team, finding solutions for our retailers and distributors, working closely with our trade partners, and supporting our community and local charities.
