Your Rating

1. Do your fans have a CSA or UL rating?

Our marine fans are low-voltage fans that do not plug into the grid; therefore, they do not require CSA or UL certifications.

2. What is the cylinder-shaped component of the cord?

The part that you are referring to is a ferrite bead. The ferrite bead is required to meet Electromagnetic immunity and emission compliance requirements by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and must not be removed. Without this ferrite bead, other electronic devices near the fan may experience electromagnetic interference when operating. This will vary with the specific equipment and proximity to the fan. You can cut the heat shrink tubing off to eliminate some of the bulk surrounding the ferrite. Arrange the wires so that two are on the side and one is on the opposite side. This will allow it to lay flatter.

3. What are your fans made of?

The body of each fan is made from plastic. Depending on the fan, the plastic used may be FR ABS or ASA. The blades are made of polyethylene.

4. Can your fans be used to ventilate my engine room, running for a minimum of 24 hours a day?

No. Our fans are not 'ignition proof' certified or tested. In an engine room, there is always the risk of having fuel and hydrocarbon fumes. For this reason, we do not recommend our fans be used in this environment. Our fans use a brushed motor, with an expected brush life of 5000 to 7500 hours. Operating the fans 24-hours will wear the brushes in a shorter time frame than the normally expected duty cycle.

5. Do you offer a fan that will turn on automatically if the power is cut off and restored? Which models offer this?

Yes! The 747/757 Ultimate Fans, 817 Kona or 7482 Maestro Fan would be suitable.

6. What are the dimensions, current draw and CFM of the Bora Fan?

The dimensions of the fan are approximately: 6.5" W x 3" L x 9.5" H, (165.1mm x 76.2mm x 241.3mm).

The current draw for the 12V unit is as follows;

Low: 0.15A

Medium: 0.18A

High: 0.27A

The current draw for the 24V unit is as follows;

Low: 0.06A

Medium: 0.10A

High: 0.18A

The Bora Fan offers the following CFM;

Low: 100 CFM

High: 130 CFM

7. On the Bora Fan, which wire is negative, and which wire is positive?

Please connect the wire marked (+++) to a positive wire and connect the other wire to a negative ground wire.

8. What is the lifespan of the motor on the Bora Fan?

The motor is designed to function for 5000+ hours.
