No, this application is not suitable. The heater must be used in the upright position and has not been designed or tested to be used upside down. Inappropriate use of the heater could create a safety risk.
The snowflake represents 3°C (38°F) and automatically turns on when the temperature drops to 3°C (38°F). The heater will shut off at around 5°C (41⁰F). The maximum temperature of the thermostat is 55°C (131⁰F).
Each setting is based on wattage. Temperature readings are not available for each setting.
The wattage and amp draw for each setting is as follows;
Low – 600 W
MED – 900 W
HI – 1500 W
The snowflake setting on the True North heater can be used on each fan setting (Hi, Med, Low) and would use the same amps. The anti-freeze setting is a separate operation. When turned to the anti-freeze snowflake on the thermostat control knob, you can turn the fan to any setting you choose.
When used on the first setting, the air temperature will take longer to rise and become warm enough for the heater to shut off.
The lights are a safety feature, and they should be functioning. Please get in touch with our Customer Service Team for assistance.
The motor is sparkless. However, it does have an open element. If dust or hair were to impact the element, it could create a spark.
The True North heater should not be used in the following applications;
Yes, the True North heater is designed to turn back on after a power outage.
The operating range of the thermostat is 6⁰C - 55⁰C (42.8⁰F - 131⁰F).
A True North space heater should not be used if the greenhouse is damp or humid. The heater must be operated and maintained as detailed in the owner's manual. It must be kept dry and used only indoors. This heater was designed for home use in bedrooms, living rooms and recreation rooms. It was not designed for damp environments. If the greenhouse is fully enclosed and dry, and the heater can be operated as indicated in the owner's manual, then it is safe to do so. If there is any doubt, then the heater should not be used.
Due to CSA (Canadian Standards Association) and UL (Underwriter's Laboratories) safety regulations and compliances, we cannot provide internal replacement parts for our AC corded products, nor can we authorize any self-repairs.
The 9206 True North heater has two separate overheat protectors/fuses that will safely shut the heater down if it overheats. The first fuse is resettable; as when it senses, the heater is starting to overheat, it will activate and shut the heater down. This fuse can be reset by unplugging the heater for ten minutes and plugging the unit back in.
The second fuse is a "one-time" fuse, which will sense if the heat is significantly overheating. If this were to occur, this fuse will activate and permanently shut down the heater. This fuse cannot be reset, and the heater must be replaced.
The True North heater is equipped with a 6-foot power cord.
The thermostat is specific to the internal temperature of the heater, not the actual heating area. Therefore, the temperature of the room and the temperature where the heater is placed could be two different temperatures.
No, it is not recommended. Each heater should be used on its own circuit to ensure it will work safely when required.
